I chose the blue pansy because it is a symbol of loyalty, honesty, and love; values that I feel are fully embodied by Mr. Perry. The pansies represent his struggle to make his way in the entertainment/artistic industry while refusing to give up.
I chose the blue pansy because it is a symbol of loyalty, honesty, and love; values that I feel are fully embodied by Mr. Perry. The pansies represent his struggle to make his way in the entertainment/artistic industry while refusing to give up. He blossomed through the struggles and adversities that he faced, and he came out stronger for having been through those challenges. Above all, Mr. Perry remained honest with himself throughout his journey. He is a pillar in the African American community and an inspiration to me and countless other young, black creatives. I wanted to honor him by “giving him his flowers” through my artwork.
